The SmartBox Challenge
The Race Is STILL On!
The SmartBox Challenge
SmartBox dentists are an amazing group, and the Q3 SmartBox Challenge results confirm it.
In Q3, 21 practices increased their SmartBox Score – the combined average of the calls answered and new patients scheduled rates – by 5 percent or more.
We’re happy to announce that 17 of those practices increased their scores by 7 percent or more, up to a whopping 45 percent!
You’ve already received (or soon will) a note if yours was one of the top-scoring practices in Q3. All SmartBox practices will receive an update sheet in the mail soon.
Just as a reminder, every eligible practice* can win awards, gift cards, and luxurious vacations! All it takes is for your front office to answer as many calls as possible during business hours and to appoint as many new patient callers as possible.
If you’d like some help achieving those goals, SmartBox has excellent products to help dentists’ staff achieve greater success. In addition to our proprietary Patient Attraction Phone Training™ and Certification, we’ll be rolling out our New Patient Assistant to help answer more of prospects’ routine questions online. That will reduce the phone calls from uncommitted prospects that go nowhere and waste your staff’s time.
SmartBox’s New Patient Assistant will prequalify prospects and help appoint more new qualified patients. We’ll have more information about our new products in later issues.
Congratulations to all our Q3 SmartBox Challenge winners!
* THE SMARTBOX CHALLENGE IS NOT OPEN TO RESIDENTS OF COLORADO, VERMONT, MARYLAND, AND ARIZONA

We Have Ignition. Now What?
Tell Us What We Can Do Better!
Complete The Client Satisfaction Survey
In addition to helping our doctors and their practices improve their new patient numbers, their average case value, and their total revenues, we’re big on self-improvement here at SmartBox.
That’s why we sent out Client Satisfaction Surveys to all our dentists and other key team members during the second week of October. We want to know from you what we’re doing really well and where we need to improve.
We’re constantly striving to improve our processes and the results they achieve for our practices. Innovation isn’t always a straight line, though, and we know that what we think works for dentists can often be improved by “in the field” experience. That’s where your feedback is vital.
We deliberately created the survey to be quick to complete and to give you the opportunity to anonymously provide written feedback to add information or expand on an answer in the survey. Let us have it! We take constructive criticism to heart and use it to serve you better.
So, if you haven’t yet completed the survey, please do! Good, bad, or indifferent, all of us at SmartBox look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your help.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s The Best Way To Finish The Year Strong?
Regardless of whether your business is on an annual or a fiscal year basis, the last few months of the year are always a push to make as much money as possible.
Given that November and December are the winter holiday season, you can anticipate an upsurge in cleanings and exams, teeth whitening appointments, and maybe some additional cosmetic dentistry.
Those aren’t your only opportunities, however. There are two very large pots of money that your practice can take advantage of: unused dental benefits and health savings accounts (HSAs) that don’t allow rollovers at year’s end.
That money is out there, but you have to give those last-minute “shoppers” reasons to notice your practice amid all the online clutter, and reasons to choose you.
The best way to make your practice “pop” during the holiday season is to increase your investment in social media. That follows the wisdom of two well-known adages: “Strike while the iron is hot,” and “When times are bad, you need to market. When times are good, you really need to market.”
Talk with your CSM about increasing your paid media to make this your merriest holiday season ever.
The State Of Success
The best time to make real money is when people are spending real money, and that time is now. Opportunity awaits.
Unemployment is at its lowest rate since 1968, and many of those workers have dental insurance that encourages them to seek care.
SmartBox offers a growing suite of products that will help dentists get more better patients and increase their practices’ bottom lines.
Some of these products may already be included in your Patient Attraction System®, while several are brand new. We’re proud to offer all of them to our doctors.
Patient Attraction Phone Training™ and Certification turns your front office into a new patient appointing powerhouse. The self-paced online course includes sample phone calls to demonstrate effective and ineffective phone technique.
Call Tracking & Monitoring helps detect problems in your front office’s phone technique that may be costing you new patients.
Local360™ continually ensures that your practice’s information is consistent everywhere on the internet. That’s a major boost to your search engine results page (SERP) ranking.
Rave™ Reputation Management helps garner more 4- and 5-star reviews for your practice and posts them on prominent review sites.
BUZZ is the comprehensive dental social media marketing solution. Make your social media marketing a joy rather than a chore, and let your patients do the heavy lifting in promoting your practice.
SmartBox’s New PracticeHQ™ is the next evolution of the Patient Attraction Dashboard, offering more intuitive design, greater clarity, and enhanced reporting capabilities for your practice’s marketing.
Be sure to talk with your CSM about how SmartBox’s suite of products can enhance your success. You’ll find all of them surprisingly affordable.
Google May Be Listening … And Recording
Google May Be Listening … And Recording
Spam And Fraud Protection Measure May Impact Dentists
Google has announced that it will begin recording a small percentage of the calls that come through their platform to ensure call quality and reduce possible fraud and spam.
Specifically, Google will monitor some calls from call-only and call extension ads. The company states that calls will be anonymized and the results used to create an automated fraud and spam detection system.
Callers will hear an announcement that the call is being recorded by Google for quality assurance.
Given Google’s immense reach and utilization, the odds are very low that any of your incoming calls would be recorded. However, your staff needs to be prepared to respond to possible caller concerns and questions.
If you have any questions or concerns about Google’s call monitoring, be sure to speak with your Client Success Manager.
